Teams operate in different fields such as vaccine technologies, plant and animal biotechnology, biomaterials, pharmaceutical technologies and molecular oncology. These include the development of vaccines and immunotherapeutics, conservation and productivity enhancement of plant genetic resources, cloning and stem cell therapies, design of new biomaterials and nanotechnology-based systems, production of biosimilar drugs, and personalized approaches to cancer diagnosis and treatment. Research teams that produce solutions for the needs of the public and private sectors through national and international collaborations contribute to the scientific and technological development of our country.

Marine Research and Technologies Laboratory conducts research on problems such as biodiversity loss, invasive species, eutrophication, mucilage and pollution that threaten the ecological balance in our seas. The laboratory carries out solution-oriented R&D projects with seawater and sediment quality monitoring studies, ecosystem-based modeling and remote sensing methods. In addition, determining the environmental impacts of fishing, tourism and maritime activities and providing scientific support to municipalities and public institutions are among the important fields of activity of the laboratory.

Food Technology Laboratories

Food Technologies Laboratories carry out multidisciplinary studies on food safety, quality control, product development and innovative analysis methods. With its different specialty laboratories, comprehensive physical, chemical, biochemical and microbiological analyses of food products are carried out. The laboratory infrastructure offers a wide range of services from sensory and physical analysis to fermentation processes, from omix-based biochemical studies to residue and additive analysis, from microbiological safety tests to molecular biology methods and digestive system simulations. Rheological measurements, color and texture analysis, chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques, mass spectrometry applications, isotope ratio analysis, PCR-based methods and in vitro gut modeling are performed in laboratories supported by modern equipment infrastructure and advanced technologies.

Climate Research and Water Management Laboratories conduct comprehensive research on climate change, greenhouse gas emissions monitoring and climate risk assessment. The laboratory provides scientific support for the development of national and regional climate change adaptation and adaptation strategies. In this context, air quality measurements, transport of atmospheric pollutants, monitoring of air quality parameters and climate risk analysis are carried out using artificial intelligence and advanced modeling software. The laboratory carries out projects with advanced technology devices such as continuous emission measurement systems, gas analyzers and climate modeling software in order to contribute to sustainability, environmental health and policy making. 

Resource Efficiency and Clean Energy Laboratories

Resource Efficiency and Clean Energy Laboratories carry out pioneering R&D studies in the fields of sustainable energy production, energy efficiency, reducing environmental impacts and developing clean production technologies. The laboratories focus on developing solutions that minimize the environmental impacts of fossil fuel use, increase the efficient use of renewable energy resources and ensure resource optimization in energy production processes. In this context, laboratories conduct advanced research in areas such as thermochemical conversion of solid, liquid and gaseous fuels, conversion of biomass and waste resources into energy, carbon capture and utilization technologies, synthetic fuel and chemical production. 

Earth Sciences Laboratory

The Earth Sciences Laboratory started its activities in 1983 as the Department of Earth Sciences within the Basic Sciences Research Institute and has since gained expertise and experience in the field of earth sciences. The Laboratory aims to provide scientific and applicable solutions to the geoscientific problems of our country by continuously improving its observation, data collection and processing infrastructure. The main objective of the laboratory is to produce scientific, reliable and applicable solutions to the geoscientific problems of our country. In this direction, the laboratory carries out R&D projects in areas such as geophysical imaging, active tectonic research, soil and seismic hazard assessments and isotope applications.
