Resource Efficiency and Clean Energy
Resource Efficiency and Clean Energy Research Group carries out activities for the sustainable development and green transformation of our country. In this context, it develops solutions to increase Resource Efficiency in all sectors in the Manufacturing Industry and contributes to the circular economy. In addition, it carries out R&D projects within the scope of the utilization of coal, biomass and wastes, which are our national resources, in an environmentally sensitive manner and with high added value in terms of energy and chemical production. In line with our country's decarbonization target, it develops Carbon Capture and Conversion technologies for carbon-intensive sectors and applies them to the sector.
- Workspaces
- Product/Process based life cycle assessment (LCA) and development of sectoral datasets
- Determination of green transformation opportunities with facility-based resource efficiency studies in the manufacturing industry
- Recovery of valuable components from waste/wastewater
- Indigenous gasifier development activities for the conversion of coal/biomass and waste to syngas
- In addition, synthesis, characterization, performance tests and process design studies of functional catalysts for the production of liquid fuel and valuable chemicals such as methanol, dimethyl ether (DME), olefin, etc. from the synthesis gas obtained as a result of gasification
- R&D activities in the field of sequestering carbon dioxide released in carbon-intensive sectors and utilization of sequestered carbon dioxide
- In this context, studies on pre-combustion capture, post-combustion capture oxy-combustion and chemical cycle combustion technologies
- Catalyst and process development studies on methane and methanol production from carbon dioxide using waste hydrogen
- CO2 removal from synthesis gas and sulfur removal from flue gas are also included.
