Resource Efficiency and Clean Energy
The Resource Efficiency and Clean Energy Research Group carries out projects to support the sustainable development and green transition of our country. In this context, it develops solutions to improve resource efficiency across all sectors of the manufacturing industry and contributes to the circular economy.
In addition, the group conducts R&D projects focused on the environmentally friendly and high value-added utilization of national resources such as coal, biomass, and waste for energy and chemical production. In line with the country’s decarbonization targets, it also develops Carbon Capture and Utilization technologies for carbon-intensive sectors and supports their industrial implementation.

- Identification of green transition opportunities through facility-based resource efficiency studies in the manufacturing industry
- Recovery of valuable components from waste and wastewater streams
- Development of indigenous gasification technologies for the conversion of coal, biomass, and waste into synthesis gas
- Synthesis, characterization, performance testing, and process design of functional catalysts for the production of liquid fuels and value-added chemicals such as methanol, dimethyl ether (DME), and olefins from synthesis gas
- Research and development projects on carbon capture, sequestration, and utilization in carbon-intensive sectors
- Studies on pre-combustion capture, post-combustion capture, oxy-fuel combustion, and chemical looping combustion technologies
- Catalyst and process development studies for methane and methanol production from carbon dioxide using waste-derived hydrogen
- Removal of CO₂ from synthesis gas and sulfur removal from flue gases
- Product- and process-based Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies and development of sectoral LCA datasets
