Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing Laboratory
In multidisciplinary projects carried out by strategic business units within the Institute, studies are carried out to collect the geographically based data needed in multidisciplinary projects, prepare the appropriate data model, analyze, visualize and share the results. These studies are carried out under two main headings: Establishment of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Infrastructure for Monitoring Environmental Changes and GIS-Based Decision Support Applications in Environmental Management. Since 2006, the GIS-based data produced within the scope of the projects are an important archive especially in making complex analyzes that decision makers may need and identifying possible needs. It is aimed to use Remote Sensing and GIS as an effective decision support tool in all projects to be carried out especially for the solution of environmental problems and planning activities, and studies are continuing in this direction.
