Digestive System Simulation Laboratory

About Us

The Human Gut Microbial Ecosystem Simulator (SHIME®) is an in vitro model that mimics the microbial community in the human gut in a laboratory setting and is used to study microbiota interactions with the digestive process. It is a gut model that precisely simulates colonic fermentation, used for preclinical or clinical support for long-term microbiome interaction studies.
