Gas Technologies Laboratory

About Us

Gas Technology Laboratory, It is a research infrastructure that carries out R&D activities to develop technologies for the effective and efficient use of natural gas, which has an important place in the energy production of our country, and also specializes in the production of syngas from solid fuels and the utilization of these gases. The laboratory designs and develops unique gasifier systems to convert coal, biomass and wastes into syngas. Process design, functional catalyst synthesis, characterization and performance tests for the conversion of synthesis gas into liquid fuels and chemicals such as methanol, dimethyl ether (DME), olefins are also among the core competencies of the laboratory.

In addition, comprehensive research on carbon dioxide capture and utilization technologies is being carried out in order to contribute to the clean energy targets of our country. In this context, projects on post-combustion CO₂ sequestration technologies are ongoing. In addition, catalyst and process development studies for methane and methanol production from CO₂ and environmentally critical applications such as CO₂ removal from synthesis gas and sulfur removal from flue gas are also in the research focus of the laboratory.
