TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) signed two important cooperation protocols within the scope of IDEF 2025 International Defense Industry Fair held in Istanbul.

Within the scope of the first protocol signed, a cooperation with the Ministry of National Defense to establish a Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Institute was put into practice. Within the scope of this cooperation, it is planned to identify current research topics in the field of CBRN defense technologies, produce solutions and implement projects that will contribute to the public interest.

The CBRN Institute, which is aimed to be established with the protocol, will create a comprehensive infrastructure to meet the research, product development, testing, consultancy and expertise needs of the Ministry of National Defense in the field of defense technologies. The domestic and national technologies to be developed against CBRN threats through the Institute will directly contribute to Turkey's defense capacity.

The Joint R&D and Commercialization Cooperation Protocol signed with HAVELSAN aims to develop innovative solutions in various high-tech fields, especially in the defence industry, and to commercialize technological gains and bring them into the economy.

The signing ceremonies were attended by Prof. Dr. Orhan Aydın, President of TÜBİTAK; Musa Heybet, Deputy Minister of National Defence; Prof. Dr. Burcu Özsoy, President of TÜBİTAK MAM; Dr. Ersin Üresin, Vice President of Materials and Process Technologies at TÜBİTAK MAM; and Prof. Dr. Hacı Ali Mantar, Chairman of the Board of Directors at HAVELSAN.

With the signed protocols, Turkey's scientific research capacity is expected to be further strengthened with the goal of domestic and national production in defense technologies, and innovative solutions are expected to be implemented.
