The Fifth National Arctic Scientific Exploration Expedition (TASE-V) runs from July 8-31, 2025.
Our country continues to strengthen its scientific presence in polar research. The Fifth National Arctic Scientific Research Expedition (TASE-V) is being carried out under the auspices of the Presidency, under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Technology and under the coordination of the TÜBİTAK MAM Polar Research Institute between July 8-31, 2025.
A total of 12 researchers, including 9 Turkish and 3 foreign researchers, are taking part in the TASE-V expedition. During the expedition, 19 different scientific projects will be realized during the expedition, where 3 high school students from 3 different projects, who won first place in TÜBİTAK's project competitions, will also have the opportunity to test their projects in the Arctic.
Within the scope of the expedition, sea water and sediment samples will be taken, the presence of microplastics in sea surface waters will be investigated, and Arctic atmosphere dynamics will be monitored with GNSS and meteorological stations. Researchers from Argentina, Bulgaria and Ecuador will also take part in the expedition.
Türkiye's scientific power will once again be visible in the international arena with studies on the effects of climate change and marine ecosystems in the Arctic Ocean.
