The 17th International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF 2025), which took place between 22-27 July 2025, kicked off with the opening ceremony of the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and hosted the innovative technologies of the defence industry. In his opening speech, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized that the exhibition is a milestone not only for the defence industry, but also for Turkey's journey towards global technological independence, and highlighted the importance of domestic and national technologies.
TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM), one of the important actors of this vision, took its place at the exhibition. TÜBİTAK MAM, which attracted great interest at its stand with its innovative products and systems developed in the fields of defense, space, energy, chemical security and advanced material technologies, successfully completed its participation with both the unique technologies it exhibited and the strategic collaborations it realized during the fair.
Space Qualified Solar Panel, Protective Suit Test System, Chemical Warfare Substances Detection Device, Mask Test System, Explosion Prevention System (EXPS) for KAAN and Life Support System (LSS) Subsystems developed by TÜBİTAK MAM for the needs of the Ministry of National Defense, Single Crystal Turbine Blade, Hydrogen Burning Catalyst, Carbon Dioxide Capturing Calipatron, Smart Adaptive Surfaces (RIS), Ballistic Resistant Laminated Glass System, Submarine Defense Warfare Sonar Transducer Element and Reactive Decontamination Products were exhibited. In addition, Reactive Decontamination Products, Composition C4 - Destruction Mold, Polymer Electrolyte Membrane (PEM) Electrolyzer System and Fuel Cell technologies were introduced holographically in digital environment.
The Ballistic Resistant Laminated Glass System, CBRN Protective Mask Test System, CBRN Protective Suit Integrity Test System and Reactive Decontamination Products, which were introduced for the first time this year, attracted great interest from visitors and demonstrated the competence TÜBİTAK MAM has reached in domestic and national solutions developed in the field of defense.
On the fourth day of the exhibition, TÜBİTAK MAM signed two important collaborations that will add value to the defense industry ecosystem. TÜBİTAK MAM and HAVELSAN signed a joint R&D and commercialization cooperation protocol for new generation technologies in the fields of defence, space materials and climate change, while a cooperation protocol was signed with the Ministry of National Defence (MSB) for the establishment of a Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Institute. With these collaborations, important steps were taken towards the development and commercialization of advanced technologies in the fields of defence and critical infrastructure.
Until the last days of the exhibition, the TÜBİTAK MAM stand was one of the focal points for visitors from domestic and foreign defense industry companies, public institutions and international delegations. The Strategy and Business Development Directorate held bilateral meetings with many companies and delegations to evaluate potential areas of cooperation.
TÜBİTAK MAM, which introduced the indigenous technologies it developed during IDEF 2025 and signed important strategic collaborations, once again demonstrated that it will continue to contribute to Turkey's defense and technology ecosystem. The products exhibited at the fair stood out as a concrete indicator of the center's "local and national" vision.
