Who We Are
TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) Materials Technologies Vice Presidency is an R&D unit that conducts advanced research, development, and application activities in the fields of materials science and engineering. Aiming to develop innovative solutions for industry, the Vice Presidency provides technological infrastructure and expertise aligned with Türkiye’s strategic needs.
The Vice Presidency consists of the following six research groups:
Metallic and Structural Materials Technologies Research Group
Conducts R&D activities in high-temperature applications, superalloys, precision casting, coating technologies, and non-destructive testing. The group also carries out studies on the design, production, and characterization of composite materials, ceramics, and porous structures.
Sensor and System Technologies Research Group
Performs research on sensor and system design related to electromagnetic, photonic, sonar, acoustic, and bio/nano functional materials.
Chemical Process Technologies Research Group
Carries out process development and optimization studies in the fields of gas separation and purification, industrial chemistry, and advanced polymer technologies.
Energetics Research Group
Conducts research on the design, characterization, and control of energetic and pyrotechnic materials.
CBRN Defense Technologies Research Group
Focuses on developing strategic defense systems for the early detection of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats, as well as the development of protective equipment against such agents.
Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies Research Group
Conducts studies on the efficient production of hydrogen, its safe storage, and its conversion into electrical energy with high efficiency through fuel cell technologies, contributing to a sustainable energy ecosystem.
These research groups play an active role in prototype development, technology transfer, and industrial implementation processes in collaboration with industry, universities, and public institutions. In addition, by participating in national and international projects, they aim to enhance Türkiye’s competitiveness in the field of materials technologies.

In line with the Management Policy of TUBITAK Marmara Research Center;
To be the Vice Presidency of Science and Technology, which conducts studies in the fields of Material Technologies, develops new areas of expertise and technologies, and provides added value to the welfare of the society and the economy by increasing the competitiveness of our country.
Within the framework of this policy, the Vice Presidency of Material Technologies is committed to providing its customers with a level and quality of service that meets the requirements of TS EN ISO/IEC 17025 General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories, TSE EN ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems - Requirements and TSE EN ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems standards, EN9100:2018 (AS9100D) - Quality Management Systems - Requirements for Aviation, Space, and Defense Organizations
All employees of the Vice Presidency of Material Technologies;
- They are informed in order to raise awareness of continuous improvement in service and product quality,
- It is constantly working towards institutional development,
- They are obliged to carry out the necessary work to ensure the adequacy of their laboratories, the reliability and confidentiality of the results,
Management of the Vice Presidency of Material Technologies;
- To comply with national and international legal regulations; laws/legislation and other obligations related to environment, occupational health and safety,
- To take into account environmental impacts, occupational health and safety risks and to define control methods while realizing planned activities and/or new developments and new investments,
- To use natural resources efficiently in all its activities and to support recycling and recycling,
- To keep the environmental impacts of possible environmental accidents and emergencies during its activities under control by securing the risks to occupational health and safety; to reduce their damages,
- Develop and manage its resources in support of national and institutional priorities,
- To develop national and international scientific and technological cooperation,
- To provide a laboratory environment that meets the requirements of TS EN ISO/IEC 17025 International Standard and to provide continuously increasing quality service to its customers with a good professional technical practice,
To be a competitive Vice Presidency in the national and international arena in the light of reliability, honesty, impartiality, confidentiality, continuous improvement and scientificity with the mission it undertakes and the quality of the services it produces,
- Ensure that its personnel are not subject to any internal or external influences that may affect their decisions and that they understand their responsibilities,
- To carry out the necessary activities for all laboratory personnel to adopt, learn and apply the quality system documentation and quality policy in their own work
