Kızıltepe Viranşehir STATCOM Project
Project Summary
STATCOM Based Reactive Power Compensation (RGK) Systems Kızıltepe-Mardin and Viranşehir-Şanlıurfa Construction Works (2013 - 2014)
Project Summary
STATCOM based Reactive Power Compensation (RPC) systems with a power of 2 × ± ±12 MVAr in Mardin Kızıltepe and ±25 MVAr in Şanlıurfa Viranşehir were required in order to prevent voltage collapses caused by increasing irrigation loads in the summer months in the Southeastern Anatolia Region, to contribute to the national economy and to support the fulfillment of ENTSO-E criteria.
STATCOM systems, which can generate stepless reactive power, can generate reactive power in a way to reduce the reactive power measured at the point where they are connected to zero on the scale of their own power. At the same time, by providing voltage regulation, it also contributes to increasing the transient regime and dynamic stability limit values at the point of connection.
Technical Details
Modular multilevel converter (MMC) based STATCOM systems integrated into portable containers are designed at 10.5 kV input voltage level, ±25 MVAr and 2 × ±12 MVAr.
Project Output
Kiziltepe Viransehir STATCOM Technology
These STATCOM systems, 2 × ±12 MVAr in Kızıltepe and ±25 MVAr in Viranşehir, have been successfully designed, manufactured and commissioned.
