STATCOM
About
STATCOM is a power electronics system of strategic importance that has been developed indigenously in Turkey and has reached the highest technology readiness level (THS 9). This technology, which increases the reliability, stability and efficiency of the electricity grid, plays a key role in meeting the increasing demands of industry and renewable energy sources.
Product Overview
It is a modern reactive power compensation system based on power electronics. It is a static device that provides voltage regulation by meeting the reactive power requirement very quickly at the point where it is connected in electrical networks, increasing system stability and power quality. It has the flexibility to generate both inductive and capacitive reactive power.

Technical Capabilities and Core Functions
STATCOM works as a static and much faster version of conventional synchronous compensators using power semiconductors. Its main effects and technical features are the following:
Fast Reactive Power Support
It provides instantaneous inductive or capacitive reactive power to the system by responding to changes in the load or network in milliseconds.
Voltage Regulation
It keeps the voltage at the point of connection within the desired limits, effectively preventing voltage crashes and spikes.
Improving System Stability
Provides more reliable operation of the grid, especially by increasing the transient regime and dynamic stability limits
Improving Power Quality
Thanks to its modular structure and control algorithms, it helps to filter harmonics.
