On June 2, 2023, a high-level science and health delegation consisting of scientists headed by Deryageldi Orazov, Special Advisor to the President of Turkmenistan on Arkadag City, visited TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM).
At the project development meeting on medicinal aromatic plants held within the scope of the visit, TÜBİTAK MAM Vice President Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yozgatlıgil, TÜBİTAK MAM President Advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cesarettin Alaşavar, Energy Technologies Vice President Dr. Osman Okur, Materials Technologies Vice President Dr. Mert Akel, Life Sciences Vice President Food Innovation Technologies Research Group Leader Dr. İncinur Hasbay, Food Safety and Quality Research Group Leader Dr. Hayrettin Özer and researchers participated.
Deryageldi Orazov, Special Advisor to the President of Turkmenistan on Arkadag City, Myratgeldi Seyitmammedov, Consul General of Turkmenistan in Istanbul, Mezilov Gurbanmyrat, Rector of Oguzkhan University of Turkmenistan and the accompanying delegation and TEPE TÜRKMEN executives from the Turkmenistan Science and Health Delegation participated.
Food Innovation Technologies A presentation on TÜBİTAK MAM food research was made by Dr. İncinur Hasbay, Research Group Leader. In the presentation, information was given about the studies carried out by TÜBİTAK MAM on the development of herbal medicines, functional foods and supplements with high added value from medicinal and aromatic plants.
In the focus of standardization and quality control studies in herbal medicinal products and dietary supplements, mutual discussions were held on the issues to be considered for the development of products from herbal sources and good production practices.
Supplementary foods containing extracts from four different plants from Turkmenistan, which were studied at the TÜBİTAK MAM Life Sciences Food Innovation Technologies Research Group, were presented to the delegation and detailed information was given about the studies carried out.
Levent Yasin Kurt, Lead Researcher from TÜBİTAK MAM Life Sciences Food Innovation Technologies Research Group, gave an informative presentation about the Turkey Food Innovation Center (TÜGİP) building and pilot production lines.
After the meeting, TÜGİP organized a technical visit. Pilot scale production lines were introduced to the Turkmenistan delegation and TÜBİTAK MAM's experiences on the subject were shared.
Rector of Turkmenistan Oguzkhan University Mezilov Gurbanmyrat presented Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yozgatlıgil, Acting President of TÜBİTAK MAM, with a local Turkmen dress and a book on Medicinal Plants of Turkmenistan written by President of Turkmenistan Kurbankulu Berdimuhammedov.
