The opening speech of the meeting was delivered by Prof. Dr. Burcu Özsoy, Vice President of Climate Change and Sustainability at TÜBİTAK MAM.

Prof. Dr. Özsoy stated that TÜBİTAK MAM is ready to provide scientific contributions in line with our national interests and in line with our strategic goals on important issues and said, "Our Center, which launched its research vessel in 2013, has gained significant momentum in the field of marine sciences and has carried out large-scale and systematic research in our seas. In 2019, with the Polar Research Institute, our Center continued to contribute to research activities in the poles, which are also accepted as the archive of the world. Thus, today, it has become capable of performing marine science both in our neighboring seas and in the world seas."

In this meeting, which brought together institutions and organizations that have a say in the fields of maritime and marine sciences, important issues such as the Turkish Marine Research Strategy (TUDAS) Document, the Establishment of the Regulation on Determining the Confidentiality of Hydrographic, Oceanographic, Marine Geology and Geophysics Data and the Ocean Decade Activities were discussed by the expert SHO Board Members.

Participants who come together at the meeting make presentations in their fields of activity and coordinate on future joint work issues. In this way, it is aimed to use the country's resources effectively and efficiently.
