The "Project on Establishment of Environmental Labeling Criteria in the Service Group of Touristic Accommodation Facilities within the Scope of Sustainable Implementation of the Turkish Environmental Labeling System and Raising Awareness" started on July 20, 2019 with the cooperation of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and TUBITAK Marmara Research Center (MAM). Representatives from public institutions and organizations, relevant sector associations and non-governmental organizations attended the Project Opening Meeting held in Ankara on September 10, 2019 and evaluations were made on the importance of the service group of touristic accommodation facilities in the system.

With the project, environmental labeling criteria will be established in accordance with the requirements of the Eco-Label Regulation No. 66/2010/EU in order to increase environmental responsibility and environmental quality for "Touristic Accommodation Facilities", one of the important service sectors of our country. Thanks to the criteria, the facilities that will meet the high performance and environmental quality standards will have the "Environmental Label Certificate" and thus, an advantage will be gained in the competitive market by supporting the increase in customer demands.

In addition, environmental label application guidelines for textile, ceramic coating, cleaning paper products, for which environmental label criteria were published on May 13, 2019, will be prepared within the scope of the project and the application process will become more effective.
