Initiated in 2016 by the Turkish Marine Environment Protection Association TURMEPA with the support of İÇDAŞ A.Ş., the project aims to raise awareness among adults and university students in Çanakkale about the importance of the Turkish Straits System and the protection of biodiversity in the Dardanelles. "Çanakkale Sea Lovers - Blue Step for Çanakkale" The first training of the project was organized on the TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Ship in Çanakkale. 40 students participated in the two trainings held on August 10. The children experienced the excitement of exploring a research ship and became aware of the importance of the Dardanelles.
TUBITAK MARMARA Research Ship was opened to the children of Çanakkale for promotional purposes. During the 1-day event, which also included TURMEPA trainings, the research ship and TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center were introduced to the children and the marine researches being carried out were explained. In this context, the movie prepared for the introduction of the ship was shown to the participants.
