TÜBİTAK MAM Institute of Earth and Marine Sciences Director Prof. Dr. Abdullah KARAMAN and a delegation consisting of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ekrem ZOR, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serdar ÖZALAYBEY and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet ERGİN held various meetings with Baku State University, Absheron Peninsula Municipalities and Azerbaijan Ministry of Extraordinary Affairs in Azerbaijan between 25-29 August 2015.
During the meetings, it was agreed to carry out a project on "Soil Classification and Seismic Hazard Assessment" for earthquake preparedness in important cities of the Absheron Peninsula in cooperation with TÜBİTAK MAM Institute of Earth and Marine Sciences and Azerbaijani experts. With this cooperation, it is aimed to determine the places with high and low seismic hazard and to create an Earthquake Disaster Plan infrastructure.
