A meeting was held on November 03, 2015 at TÜBİTAK MAM with the participation of TÜKSİAD Board Members and TÜBİTAK MAM Institute of Food, Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology.

Following the opening speech of Prof. Dr. Şaban TEKİN, Director of the TÜBİTAK MAM Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Muammer ÇAPUTÇU, Chairman of the Board of Directors of TÜKSİAD, addressed the problems in the nuts sector in Turkey. It was discussed that molecular breeding studies on the development of varieties with long shelf life and high nutritional value, especially in peanuts, have not been carried out at a sufficient level in Turkey.

TÜBİTAK MAM Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Institute, Food Institute, Eastern Mediterranean Agricultural Research Institute, seed export companies and groundnut producers agreed to cooperate on "Groundnut and Sunflower Breeding".
