TÜBİTAK MAM A delegation consisting of Prof. Dr. Abdullah KARAMAN, Director of the Institute of Earth and Marine Sciences, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ekrem ZOR and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serdar ÖZALAYBEY visited Pakistan in May and August 2015 with the support of the Islamic Development Bank to evaluate the National Earthquake Observatory of the Pakistan Meteorological Department and to identify capacity building needs.

As a result of the meetings, an agreement was reached on a project to improve the capacity of the National Earthquake Observatory of the Pakistan Meteorological Department and to improve the scientific and technical infrastructure deficiencies.

With this project, TÜBİTAK MAM Institute of Earth and Marine Sciences will provide training to Pakistan on "earthquake data processing and analysis, soil classification studies for seismic hazard assessment, GPS data collection and processing" on a national scale and provide consultancy on the development of the instrument infrastructure of observation networks.
