TUBITAK Marmara Research Center Climate Change and Sustainability Vice Presidency Earth Sciences Research Group hosted 12 expert researchers from Pakistan between March 14-April 2 within the scope of "Project for Improvement of Earthquake Research Capacity of Pakistan Meteorology Department" supported by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) and Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Center for Islamic Countries (SESRIC).

In the first phase of the project, which was postponed three times due to global pandemic conditions, Pakistani researchers were trained in teams of four on "Earthquake Data Processing and Evaluation", "Soil Classification and Data Evaluation" and "GPS Data Collection and Processing". After the theoretical background was established in the training subjects, detailed practices were carried out on the stages of transferring the data collected in the field to the center, processing and evaluating the data and making them ready for interpretation.

In the next leg of the project, experts from our Center will go to Pakistan to examine the work carried out on the subjects trained on the spot and help the practices to reach the highest quality.
