The ZeoZey Project, carried out by the TÜBİTAK MAM Food Technologies Research Group within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 1003 Program supported by the General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policies (TAGEM), has developed a domestic filler in the field of chromatographic purification for which a patent application has been filed. This unique material, called “ZeoBor”, stands out as a national technology that makes it possible to obtain olive-derived phenolic compounds with high purity, beyond being an alternative to imported chromatographic fillers. Developed for the separation and purification of valuable phenolic compounds, especially oleuropein, from the by-products of olive oil production, ZeoBor offers a separation method that provides high efficiency and purity thanks to its selective interaction mechanism.
The technology developed at TRL 3-5 level through laboratory and pilot scale validation studies is of strategic importance in terms of reducing foreign dependence in bioactive production. It is envisaged that the outputs of the ZeoZey Project will be evaluated as an important technological achievement on a national scale.
