TIMES - MACRO Model Training

Interpretation of Model Results Training, the third of the user trainings on the TIMES-MACRO Model used in the Preparation of National Communications on Climate Change Project, was held on March 10-11, 2016 at Demora Hotel in Ankara. Representatives from TÜBİTAK MAM, Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, Ministry of Development, General Directorate of Forestry, TOBB, State Hydraulic Works, Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, United Nations Development Program, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Finance, Turkish Statistical Institute, Undersecretariat of Treasury and Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs participated in the training with 32 participants in total.

The training was delivered by faculty members from Boğaziçi University and Işık University. In addition to general and theoretical information on modeling systems and modeling approach, the basic working principle and modeling structure of the TIMES Model, the analysis of long-term supply-demand balancing in the Turkish energy sector with the TIMES modeling system and optimization approach were also discussed. In addition, the model interface has been examined practically and sample modeling and results evaluation studies have been carried out.
