The "MAM External Seminar Series", where we listen to the experiences of pioneers in their fields, trends in their fields, their successes and cooperation topics that can be created together, continues unabated.

NASA new researcher early career award winner and Associate Professor at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geo-Engineering at the University of Minnesota, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ardeshir Ebtehaj, participated in the TÜBİTAK MAM External Seminar Series as a speaker on 12 May 2023.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ardeshir Ebtehaj presented an emission model for soil moisture estimation using remote sensing. The model relates the well-known Tau-Omega emission model with the snowpack dense medium radiative transfer (DMRT) theory and a multilayer composite reflectance model.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ebtehaj also discussed the comparison between the emission model results and the VOD-derived results from the International Soil Moisture Network (ISMN) and the normalized vegetation cover index (NDVI) derived from medium resolution imaging spectroradiometer (MODIS) observations.

TÜBİTAK MAM employees participated in the seminar, which was also physically held at the TÜBİTAK MAM Energy Technologies Vice Presidency Chemistry Flexible Pilot Plant Conference Hall.

During the seminar, challenges on the validation of the proposed emission model with TÜBİTAK MAM researchers were discussed. Possible collaborations on the determination of soil organic matter content by remote sensing were discussed.

TÜBİTAK MAM Climate Change and Sustainability Vice President Prof. Dr. Burcu Özsoy presented a certificate of appreciation to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ardeshir Ebtehaj.
