An online workshop titled "Mucilage Formation in the Marmara Sea and Solution Suggestions" will be held on June 4, 2021 with the support and cooperation of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization.

Solutions for marine mucilage will be discussed

In this program where the current environmental status of the Marmara Sea and its effects on the marine ecosystem, urban wastewater load and projections, sectoral effects of environmental management, especially aquaculture and tourism, agricultural pollution and pollution from ships will be discussed, the Union of Marmara Municipalities (MBB) plans to develop a joint action plan together with the central government, local governments, universities, professional chambers, non-governmental organizations and other stakeholders.

In the workshop, Dr. İbrahim Tan, Expert Researcher from TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) Environment and Clean Production Institute (ÇTÜE), will share information about the studies and results of the DEN-IZ project, which has been supported by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization since 2014 and coordinated by TÜBİTAK MAM ÇTÜE, and the pressures on the Marmara Sea.
