The National Electric Locomotive E1000, which will make Turkey one of the world authorities in the rail vehicle sector, has landed on the rails.
TÜBİTAK MAM and TÜLOMSAŞ The project was carried out in partnership with TCDD Hasanbey Logistics Center in Eskişehir. 18 scientists took part in the project. Developed entirely with domestic technology, E1000 was launched on October 8, 2015 with the participation of Fikri Işık, Minister of Science, Industry and Technology, and Nabi Avcı, Minister of National Education, at a ceremony held at Eskişehir TCDD Hasanbey Logistics Center.
The electric locomotive E1000, equipped with features to meet the maneuvering and short-distance freight transportation needs of the Turkish State Railways (TCDD), has taken its place on the tracks. TUBITAK's
The national project, supported by 18 scientists, was completed after 4 years of intensive work. With the national electric locomotive E1000, Turkey has one of the components with the highest added value in the rail vehicle sector, which is owned only by developed countries in the world.
has become both a designer and manufacturer of traction converters, traction control units, train control and management systems.
All laboratory, software and infrastructure studies, factory and road tests, prototype production and prototype production of the E1000, which stands out with its modern driving and 1-megawatt traction system, were carried out 100% domestically. Turkey's technologies in the project can be adapted to many rail vehicles, from light rail vehicles to high-speed trains.
WILL ADD MOMENTUM TO TURKEY
In line with the 2023 targets of the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, the project will enable Turkey to design, manufacture and sell locomotives without being dependent on foreign countries. The national electric locomotive E1000, which will accelerate Turkey's exports, will not only reduce the current account deficit, but also pioneer the production of high-power main line locomotives, high-speed trains and urban rail vehicles. and Minister of National Education Prof. Dr. Nabi Avcı's participation in a ceremony to be held at Eskişehir TCDD Hasanbey Logistics Center.
"WE ARE HAPPY TO BRING E1000 TO OUR COUNTRY"
Performing the opening ceremony TÜBİTAK MAM President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bahadır Tunaboylu, He said that E1000 is one of the most concrete examples of indigenous technologies that will carry Turkey forward. Rail
Stating that the E1000, in which all components in the vehicle sector were produced domestically, cost 9.5 million TL, Tunaboylu said, "The design and manufacturing of the first national traction converter, which is of great importance for our country, the hardware and software of the traction control unit, the hardware and software of the central control units, dynamic modeling studies, dynamometer tests of traction motors were carried out completely domestically in our country. We are happy to bring such a project to our country. We wish that E1000, which came to life with the partnership of TÜBİTAK MAM, TÜLOMSAŞ and TCDD, will be beneficial for our country. With the technologies we have gained, our trained workforce, our design capability and the path we have taken in innovation, we will be able to use our advanced technology traction systems in different rail projects. New technologies
we will continue to develop."
"A NEW ERA BEGINS FOR TURKISH INDUSTRY"
Stating at the opening ceremony that an important vision was prepared for the restructuring of railways since 2004 TÜLOMSAŞ General Manager Hayri AvcıAvcı underlined that an important stage has been reached in the works. Stating that E1000 is an important note to be recorded in history, Avcı said: "The national electric locomotive E1000 is a complete engineering success. With this project completed in 4 years, we have become one of the rare countries in the world that develops its own software and hardware in the locomotive sector. Today we have passed an important threshold. As of 2016, we will start producing electric main locomotives bearing our own brand. Another important project ahead of us is the National High Speed Train. We are continuing our efforts for its production. We would like to thank everyone who took part in and supported E1000, the demonstrator and herald of such a vision."
"E1000 IS AN IMPORTANT STEP TOWARDS INTERNATIONALIZATION"
At the ceremony held for the National Electric Locomotive E1000, which will make Turkey one of the world authorities in the rail vehicle sector, he gave information about the works carried out in railway transportation Talat Aydın, Deputy Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications said that Turkey has achieved a great success for the technologies it needs in rail public transportation. Emphasizing that the 100 percent domestic electric locomotive realized under the leadership of TÜBİTAK MAM and TÜLOMSAŞ is an important step in stepping into foreign sectors, Aydın said, "E1000 has an important place in high-speed and high-speed railway projects since 2003. We have accelerated our work on national projects for high-speed and high-speed transportation and national trains. From rail fasteners to sleeper factories and diesel or electric locomotives and passenger wagons, we have important targets; we have important works at this point. Our universities
With their valuable contributions, we will increase our work with modern driving system on railways. We congratulate everyone who contributed to E1000 and thank you on behalf of our ministry."
"WE ARE IN THE SECOND RAILROAD MOVE"
Noting that the story of some cities is dominated by the railroad, he said
Minister of National Education Prof. Dr. Nabi AvcıHe stated that Eskişehir is one of these cities and that the railroad is very important in its culture. Pointing out that the first railway move in Turkey started during the reign of Sultan Abdülhamid II, Minister Avcı said, "The dream of connecting our geography with railways will hopefully continue with the second move in the period we are in. We have projects to revive the Silk Road through railways. High-speed trains are also starting to flow on our rails. The E1000, which is a domestic and national product included in the system today, is a project that will appeal to the inspiration of the century. As Eskisehirites, we are happy to host this auspicious development. I would like to thank those who contributed."
"WE CAN GET A SIGNIFICANT SHARE IN THE WORLD RAIL SYSTEM MARKET"
Stating at the opening ceremony that Turkey's railway adventure dates back to before the Republic
Fikri Işık, Minister of Science, Industry and Technology made the following statement: "Today, you have two paths in industry. You will either be a country that consumes and imports, or a country that produces and exports. At this point, E1000 gives us a justified pride. Eskişehir has a very special place in this joy. Not only Turkey's
the railroad is not one of the crossroads of adventure. Devrim, the first domestic automobile, was also produced here. If today's political understanding had existed in 1961, I have no doubt that the Devrim automobile, a Turkish brand, would have been one of the most preferred brands in the world. We believe in our strength as a country. We will take important steps in national and domestic production. Because today, with the E1000, we have become a country that has R&D capability and develops products in the locomotive sector in the world. Now, the next step is to start mass production. Rail systems are a sector where demand is increasing day by day in the world. It is estimated that 18 billion dollars will be invested in the coming years. With the E1000, high-speed trains and our national locomotives, we will become a country with an ambitious share in the world market."
