The 2nd General Assembly Meeting of the LOUISE Project (Efficient Low-Cost CO2 Capture from Waste-Derived Fuels Using Chemical Looping Combustion), which includes stakeholders from 18 countries, was held on October 6, 2022 at TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM).

The 2nd General Assembly Meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yozgatlıgil, Vice President of TÜBİTAK and President of TÜBİTAK MAM; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Işıl Işık Gülsaç, Dr. Ufuk Kayahan, Dr. Berrin Engin, Dr. Yeliz Çetin, Dr. Ersin Üresin, Y. Eng. Ömer Orçun Er and Özgür Can Korkmaz; from Project Stakeholder Institutions; Jochen Ströhle (TUDA), Philipp Mohn (TUDA), Oğuzhan Narin (DL), Zuoan Li (SINTEF), Yngve Larring (SINTEF), Kostis Atsonis (CERTH), Dionisis Stefanitsis (CERTH), Marie Kaiser (CHEMIN), Didem Nedret İnceoğlu (ERDEMİR), Erdal Ünal (ERDEMİR), Tuğçe Oturakkaya (SOCAR), Celal Güvenç Oğulgönen (SOCAR).

The meeting started with the opening speech of Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yozgatlıgil, President of TÜBİTAK MAM. In his speech, Yozgatlıgil said, "National and international R&D studies to control increasing Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions continue rapidly. As TÜBİTAK MAM, we attach great importance to carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) technologies, which are one of the important alternatives to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, and we work intensively on these technologies. In this context, projects on the development of many different carbon sequestration technologies such as Chemical Absorption sequestration, membrane separation, oxidation and chemical cycle combustion technologies are ongoing in our center."

Stating that TÜBİTAK MAM has completed many projects in the field of Clean Energy Technologies since 2000, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yozgatlıgil emphasized that in addition to CCUS Technologies, they have carried out applied R&D and pilot scale projects on alternative fuels, hydrogen production and use.

Yozgatlıgil concluded his speech by thanking the stakeholders who attended the meeting. Afterwards, presentations were made by stakeholder organizations on the work packages of the LOUISE project.

Biomass, Coal Combustion and Gasification Laboratory, Advanced Coal Technologies Center of Excellence and Biomass, Coal Combustion and Gasification Demonstration sites within TÜBİTAK MAM Energy Technologies Vice Presidency were visited and project stakeholders were informed about the work carried out.
