TÜBİTAK MAM TAKES PART IN 14TH INTERNATIONAL ISNFF CONGRESS

The International Society for Nutraceuticals and Functional Foods (ISNFF) Congress and Exhibition, coordinated by TÜBİTAK MAM, chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cesarettin Alaşalvar, co-organized by PhenolAcTwin Project and supported by the European Commission H2020 Program, was held in Istanbul on 3-5 October 2022.

The 14th International ISNFF Conference, with 9 keynote speakers and 134 speakers in 22 sessions, was held with the participation of approximately 330 people from 28 countries. 23 students from 10 different countries participated in the competition. Certificates were given to 17 students who came first, second and third.

The Turkish Food Innovation Platform (TÜGİP) established by TÜBİTAK MAM also supported SMEs to participate in the conference. TÜGİP organized 2 sessions for the industry on Functional Drinks and Medicinal Plants. Participants were also introduced to the Turkey Food Innovation Center.

The scientific meetings, where current developments in the field of functional foods, nutraceuticals and natural health products were discussed, enabled the flow of information between scientists and industrialists and provided opportunities for possible collaborations.

In the sessions, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cesarettin ALAŞALVAR presented "Health claims, nutrients, bioactives and health benefits of dried fruits", Dr. Ebru PELVAN presented the PhenolAcTwin project, and Dr. Aytunga ARIK KİBAR presented "Optimization of galacto oligosaccharide production method from lactose to maximize prebiotic efficiency".

Dr. Ebru PELVAN presented "Development of a throat spray effective against SARS CoV-2 infection", Dr. Öznur KARAOĞLU presented "Development of a chewable tablet containing propolis and herbal extracts effective against SARS CoV-2 infection", and Dr. Deniz KÖM presented "Production of metabolite content of poppy using bioactors".
