The Institute of Environment and Cleaner Production, Cleaner Production Unit participated in the "Industrial Symbiosis Conference", the closing event of the Industrial Symbiosis in Iskenderun Bay Project supported by the Baku Tbilisi Ceyhan Oil Pipeline Company and carried out by the Technology Development Foundation of Turkey (TTGV) on February 19-20, 2014. The conference continued with the opening speech by Dr. A. Mete Çakmakçı, Secretary General of the Technology Development Foundation of Turkey, followed by the Industrial Symbiosis Project document and presentation. A total of 29 presentations were made in 6 sessions at the conference.

At the conference, presentations were made on industrial symbiosis and related policies in the world, the present and future of industrial symbiosis in Turkey, examples of project implementation and R&D in Iskenderun Bay carried out by the Technology Development Foundation of Turkey, industrial symbiosis and entrepreneurship, and financing sources for industrial symbiosis applications. The conference was attended by Işıl Ataçoğlu, Bayram Akbalık and Mustafa Kırkıncı representing the Environment and Cleaner Production Institute.
