In Turkey, the concept of "cleaner production" was first brought to the agenda in 1999 by TÜBİTAK and the Technology Development Foundation of Turkey (TTGV) with the Industry Sector Report of the Science Technology Industry Discussions Platform, Cleaner Production Cleaner Products Environment Friendly Technologies Working Group and the establishment of a "cleaner production center" was proposed. However, although various plans have been made over time for the establishment of a center in this scope, they have not been implemented. Finally, in April last year, the name of the TÜBİTAK MAM Environment Institute was changed to the Environment and Cleaner Production Institute in accordance with the decision of TÜBİTAK Science Board No. 218 and it was decided that the Institute would also function as a Cleaner Production Center.
