During the program held at TÜBİTAK MAM, R&D activities, technical capabilities, and research infrastructures related to the defense industry were evaluated together with the delegation of the Presidency of Defence Industries; relevant infrastructures, particularly the BKTM laboratories, were examined on site.
TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) hosted a delegation from the Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) of the Republic of Türkiye at its Gebze campus in order to evaluate ongoing work in critical R&D and advanced technology fields within the defense industry and to introduce the research infrastructures available at the center. Within the scope of the program, current and planned activities carried out between TÜBİTAK MAM and the Presidency of Defence Industries for the defense industry were discussed. Mutual information was shared regarding the research infrastructures, technical capabilities, and ongoing projects within the center.
The program began with an introductory session followed by an overview of the day’s agenda. Subsequently, presentations were delivered on the activities conducted by the R&D and Technology Management Department of the Presidency of Defence Industries. This was followed by presentations by TÜBİTAK MAM on the studies and research infrastructures of the National Biological and Chemical Test Center (BKTM), the Energetic Materials Research Group, and the Metallic and Structural Materials Technologies Research Group. During the evaluation meeting held after the presentations, existing activities and technical capabilities were discussed in line with the needs of the defense industry, and views were exchanged on the activities carried out in relevant fields.
As part of the program, a technical tour was organized during which the delegation of the Presidency of Defence Industries had the opportunity to examine the laboratories of the National Biological and Chemical Test Center (BKTM) on site. During the visit, technical information was provided on the testing, analysis, and evaluation activities conducted at the center.
The delegation of the Presidency of Defence Industries was led by Prof. Dr. İhsan Kaya, Vice President for Industrialization and Strategic Planning. The delegation also included Zübeyde Arslanoğlu, Head of the R&D and Technology Management Department; Ahmet Tolga Sayın, Head of the Industrialization Department; as well as managers, engineers, and experts working in the fields of R&D, advanced materials, energy, propulsion, and CBRN projects. The TÜBİTAK MAM delegation was represented by Prof. Dr. Burcu Özsoy, President of TÜBİTAK MAM; Dr. Ersin Üresin, Vice President for Materials and Process Technologies; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özgen Ercan, Vice President for Climate and Life Sciences; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abit Balın, Director of Strategy and Project Management; along with the leaders of the CBRN Defense Technologies, Energetic Materials, and Metallic and Structural Materials Technologies research groups, as well as researchers from relevant units.
The visit was concluded within the framework of the presentations, technical inspections, and evaluations conducted throughout the day. It is aimed that the meetings held within the scope of the program will contribute to increasing the level of mutual information regarding the activities carried out between TÜBİTAK MAM and the Presidency of Defence Industries and will lay the groundwork for potential technical engagements in the coming period.
