TÜBİTAK MAM Evaluates Defense-Focused R&D and Technology Studies with the Ministry of National Defense

Within the scope of the program conducted at the TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center, a comprehensive exchange of views took place with the Ministry of National Defense delegation regarding R&D activities, technical capabilities, and research infrastructure related to the defense industry, as well as current and planned projects and future cooperation opportunities.

TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) hosted a delegation from the Turkish Ministry of National Defense to evaluate its R&D activities, advanced technology capabilities, and research infrastructure for the defense industry. During the program, current and planned defense-focused projects carried out within TÜBİTAK MAM were discussed, and opportunities for technical cooperation and areas for joint work were evaluated.

During the presentations organized as part of the program, Dr. Samet Feyyaz Hamamcı, Director of Strategy and Business Development at TÜBİTAK MAM, shared an overview of the strategic R&D activities carried out at the center and the approach to cooperation with the defense industry. This was followed by presentations by Dr. Elif Ünveren, Leader of the Chemical Process Technologies Research Group, Alper Seçgin, Leader of the Sensor and System Technologies Research Group, Mehmet Ulutürk, Leader of the Energetic Materials Research Group, and Ömür Can Odabaş, Leader of the Metallic and Structural Materials Technologies Research Group, gave comprehensive presentations on their work, technical capabilities, and project proposals for the defense industry. Following the presentations, evaluations were conducted, and mutual views were exchanged on technologies developed in line with the priority needs of the defense industry, the contribution potential of research infrastructures, and future project opportunities.

During the technical visits organized as part of the program, the Ministry of National Defense delegation had the opportunity to inspect the Chemical Flexible Pilot Plant, the Polymer Laboratory, and the High Temperature Materials Research, Development, and Repair Center. During the visits, technical information was shared about the laboratory infrastructure, testing and analysis capabilities, and ongoing work. The visit was attended by Dr. Samet Feyyaz Hamamcı on behalf of TÜBİTAK MAM, as well as Dr. Elif Ünveren, Leader of the Chemical Process Technologies Research Group, Alper Seçgin, M.Sc., Leader of the Sensor and System Technologies Research Group; Dr. Mehmet Ulutürk, Leader of the Energetic Materials Research Group; and Dr. Ömür Can Odabaş, Leader of the Metallic and Structural Materials Technologies Research Group, along with senior researchers and experts from relevant research groups.

The Turkish Ministry of National Defense delegation included Air Force Commander HUGEM Commander Col. Bora Çakıroğlu, Army Command ARMERKOM Branch Manager Col. Çetin Alp Akdoğan, Navy Command ARMERKOM Commander Eng. Col. Ali Onur Akar, and managers, officers, and engineers working within the R&D and Technology Directorate were present. The meetings aimed to strengthen mutual knowledge sharing between TÜBİTAK MAM and the Ministry of National Defense in R&D and technology development efforts for the defense industry and to lay the groundwork for joint projects that could be implemented in the coming period.
