TÜBİTAK MAM Introduced Its R&D and Technology Infrastructure to the Afyonkarahisar Governorate Delegation

During the visit organized in collaboration between TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center and Afyonkarahisar Governorate, the delegation consisting of representatives from the public sector, universities, and industry evaluated opportunities for cooperation by examining MAM's institutional structure, research centers, and advanced R&D infrastructure on site. Within the scope of the program, projects in the fields of biotechnology, food technologies, hydrogen and fuel cells, and clean energy were presented in detail.

A delegation consisting of representatives from the public sector, universities, and industry visited TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) in coordination with the Afyonkarahisar Governor's Office. As part of the visit program, a presentation was given on the institutional structure of TÜBİTAK MAM, its research centers, and the R&D activities carried out. The program was attended by TÜBİTAK MAM Vice President of Climate and Life Sciences Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özgen Ercan, TÜBİTAK MAM Director of Strategy and Business Development Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abit Balın, and Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Research Group Leader Dr. Betül Erdör Türk. The visit was attended by representatives from the Afyonkarahisar Governor's Office, the Afyonkarahisar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Zafer Technopark, Afyonkarahisar Health Sciences University (AFSÜ), Afyon Kocatepe University (AKÜ), Zafer Development Agency, industrial organizations, civil society organizations, and BİLSEM administrators, teachers, and students. The Afyonkarahisar delegation included Deputy Governor İhsan Ayrancı, ATSO Deputy Secretary General Hüsnü Selim Şenbabaoğlu, Zafer Teknopark General Manager Prof. Dr. Tuğrul Kandemir, AFSÜ Faculty of Pharmacy Department of Pharmacognosy Chair Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gamze Göğer, AFSÜ Faculty of Medicine faculty members Dr. Ayşen Mert and Dr. Emine Sarman, Zafer Development Agency Afyonkarahisar Provincial Coordinator Osman Köprücüoğlu, and numerous representatives from the public, academic, and business sectors. As part of the program, the delegation had the opportunity to examine the work of the CBRN Defense Technologies Research Group, Biotechnology Research Group, Food Technologies Research Group, Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Research Group, Chemical Process Technologies Research Group, and Resource Efficiency and Clean Energy Research Group, all operating within TÜBİTAK MAM. Within this scope, the Biological and Chemical Testing Center (BKTM), the Turkish Food Innovation Platform (TÜGİP), the Biomass, Combustion, and Gasification Laboratory, the Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies Laboratory, and the Polymer Laboratory were visited to obtain information from expert researchers about the projects being carried out and the infrastructure capabilities. During the evaluation part of the visit, cooperation opportunities were discussed to bring together Afyonkarahisar's potential in the fields of agriculture, food, health, energy, and industry with TÜBİTAK MAM's advanced R&D infrastructure. Evaluations were made on strengthening university-industry-public partnerships, joint project development processes, and studies that will contribute to regional development.

The visit concluded following mutual assessments aimed at developing cooperation between TÜBİTAK MAM and the Afyonkarahisar Governor's Office.
