Energy Supply Security Workshop organized at TÜBİTAK

TUBITAK Marmara Research Center and the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (MENR) jointly organized the "Energy Supply Security Workshop" on 17 May 2016. The workshop was held at TÜBİTAK TÜSSİDE facilities in Gebze.

The workshop, which was organized with the aim of guiding all stakeholders of energy supply security with the opinions to be put forward by the expert stakeholders of the energy sector, the evaluations to be made and the ideas to be formed as a result of the exchange of opinions, was attended by officials from MENR, as well as authorized representatives of TEAİŞ, EÜAŞ, BOTAŞ, private sector company managers and authorized names from universities.

The workshop, which focused on "Energy Supply Security in the Marmara Region", was moderated by Mr. Murat Akkaya, Head of Supply Department of MENR. Mr. Osman Okur, Deputy Director of TÜBİTAK MAM Energy Institute, gave information about the leading R&D activities and projects of the institute on energy supply security and emphasized that a very important element of energy supply security is to develop national energy technologies and reduce our dependence on foreign technologies. Following the presentation of TÜBİTAK MAM Energy Institute, Mr. Murat Akkaya, Head of Supply Department of MENR, gave a presentation titled "Energy Supply Security Outlook for the Marmara Region: Electricity and Natural Gas". In the afternoon, two separate free sessions were held to discuss electricity and natural gas supply security in the Marmara Region. In the free sessions, problems were identified by expert stakeholders and opinions were put forward on solution proposals. The workshop ended with an evaluation session.
