TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) Materials Institute (ME) is developing sealing glasses in powder, preform and paste form for hermetic glass-metal welding applications in the production of complex and very small electronic components.
Sealing glasses with hermetic packaging or hermetic joining feature are used to isolate the components in the system from environmental conditions (moisture, air, etc.), to mechanically join different components in the system to each other and/or to electrically isolate one component from another.
With the cooperation and support of ROKETSAN A.Ş., TÜBİTAK MAM has developed two types of glass preforms for hermetic glass-metal welding applications for the production of electrical transition components in the defense industry: non-compressive (match-compatible) and compressive (compressive-compression-incompatible) types.
The developed glass preforms are insulating (minimum resistance of 100 megaohms), leak-proof (He) (<1×10-6 atm cc/sec) and pressure resistant (coercive pressure test: 5000±50 psi - 15 seconds).
TÜBİTAK MAM Materials Institute has the competence and infrastructure to produce sealing glasses with desired properties (coefficient of thermal expansion, joining temperature, etc.) in different compositions and geometries; in glass, powder, paste and glass preform forms.
