The TÜBİTAK MAM Institute of Materials "High Temperature Materials Research, Development and Repair Center of Excellence", which was established to ensure the production of critical parts that save Turkey from foreign dependency in the aviation industry and to develop human resources and skills in this field, has made an important progress for the defense industry.
To be used on Gökbey
One of the most important projects carried out by our center, the indigenous development and production of cooled and uncooled single crystal blades that operate at high temperatures inside the high pressure turbine module, has been completed. These blades, which have the ability to withstand high speed and difficult environmental conditions for a long time under multi-directional forces, especially high temperature conditions, were produced in single crystal form by precision casting method.
The blades, which constitute one of the most critical parts of the high-pressure turbine module and operate at very high speeds of 1400 oC and above, will be used in the ground tests of the TS1400 engine developed by TEI with domestic and national facilities, and in the ground tests of the first Utility Helicopter Gökbey (T625), the platform on which the engine will be used.
The project for the domestic production of turbine parts, which are of strategic importance for the aviation industry, was realized within the scope of the cooperation between the TÜBİTAK MAM Materials Institute and TEI (TAI), with the support of the Presidency of Strategy and Budget (SBB) and the Presidency of Defense Industry (SSB).
