BS 6920 Standard Tests for "Non-Metallic Products" in Contact with Water

The BS 6920 standard includes the assessment and reporting of the suitability of non-metallic products for use in contact with water for human consumption in terms of their effect on water quality. Within the scope of the standard, the effect of the material on the odor and taste of water, the effect on the appearance of water, the effect of increasing microbial growth, the release of substances harmful to human health from the material and the release of toxic metals are tested, and organic substances that can pass into water are examined by GCMS identification method.
Tests performed in accordance with BS 6920:2014:
BS 6920-2.2 Odor and Taste of Water
BS 6920-2.3 Appearance of Water
BS 6920-2.4 Aquatic Microorganism Growth
BS 6920-2.5 Cytotoxicity
BS 6920-2.6 Extraction of Metals
BS 6920-3 High Temperature Tests
BS 6920-4 GCMS Identification of Extractable Organic Substances in Water
(Migration Test, TS EN 15768, BS EN 12873)

BS EN 16056 Standard Tests for "Stainless Steel Products" in Contact with Water
BS EN 16056: Evaluation of passive corrosion behavior of stainless steels

Corrosion is a natural phenomenon expected in all areas where metallic materials are used. Corrosion phenomenon manifests itself in every branch of industry. Tanks, tanks, masts, bridges, vehicles, underground pipelines, reinforced concrete bars, pier legs, ships, pipes, tanks and many machine parts open to atmospheric conditions are faced with corrosion. Corrosion, which occurs especially in liquid environments containing chloride ions, has many negative environmental, economic and social consequences.
