TUBITAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) Environment and Cleaner Production Institute (ÇTÜE) obtains data on all other factors such as zoning status, industry, agricultural areas, tourism, forest areas, lands under the provision and disposal of the state, precipitation, groundwater, surface waters, air quality, etc. in the drinking water basin, determines the current and future impacts with various mathematical model scenarios by taking into account their effects on lake or dam water quality, and prepares basin protection plans and special provisions that include measures to address these impacts.

Within the scope of the work carried out, responsibilities are determined under the umbrella of the relevant Ministry for the execution of each activity in the drinking water basin, taking into account the protection-utilization balance in order for future generations to benefit from these resources by preserving the potable water feature of the drinking water source.
