National Defense University Naval Academy Dean's Office Mechanical Technologies Club Students made a technical inspection trip to TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center and TÜBİTAK National Metrology Institute laboratories on 27 December 2022.
Within the scope of the technical trip, students will visit the High Temperature Composites Hall, High Temperature Materials Research, Development and Repair Center of Excellence, Millimeter Wave and Terahertz Technologies Research Laboratory (MILTAL), Underwater Acoustics Laboratory (UASL) under the TÜBİTAK MAM Materials Technologies Vice Presidency; High Temperature Composites Hall, High Temperature Materials Research, Development and Repair Center of Excellence, Millimeter Wave and Terahertz Technologies Research Laboratory (MİLTAL), Underwater Acoustics Laboratory (SAL), Biomaterials, Biomechanics and Bioelectronics Center of Excellence (3D) Photonic Sensors Laboratory and Acoustic, Force, High Voltage, Time-Frequency and Wavelength Laboratories of TÜBİTAK National Metrology Institute.
Students had the opportunity to closely examine extreme composite material samples of structural material technologies for advanced technology materials, to meet technological devices one-on-one, to see the developments in critical technologies on site and to closely examine the infrastructure of defense technologies. In addition, students had one-to-one meetings with competent researchers in the field for the technological application they are interested in.
The students, who ranked second in 2021 and first in 2022 in the TEKNOFEST Jet engine competition, were particularly interested in the information provided on gas turbine material technologies. The questions raised by the students on this subject were answered by researchers who are experts in their fields.
Within the scope of the visit, the students were also informed about the activities of TÜBİTAK National Metrology Institute, its place in the world metrology field with its working infrastructure and its contributions to the country.
After the laboratory visits, the Hannibal Monument in TÜBİTAK Gebze Campus was visited and students were informed about Hannibal's life.
After the technical trip, the students thanked the staff of the institution for their enlightening and informative information.
