The International KOP Regional Development Symposium, organized in cooperation with the Konya Plain Project (KOP) Regional Development Administration under the Ministry of Industry and Technology and the Union of Universities of the KOP Region (UNİKOP), which is formed by the union of 13 universities in the provinces of the region, was held on October 17, 2019 under the presidency of Kırıkkale University.

Prof. Dr. İbrahim Kılıçaslan, President of TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center, made an informative presentation on the Development of Renewable Energy in Turkey, mentioning the importance of renewable energy sources to prevent imports in meeting Turkey's energy needs.

He stated that renewable energy is obtained from the natural environment from sources that can be accessed continuously or repeatedly, and that this type of energy, which can be easily produced from domestic resources, is seen as a solution suitable for the requirements of the modern age.
