Sector Information Meeting on the "Utilization of Tunçbilek Sludge Slurry Wastes as Raw Material in Brick and Cement Production" Project

A comprehensive information meeting was held on May 17, 2017 at the General Directorate of TKİ with the participation of brick and cement sector representatives about the results obtained within the scope of the project titled "Evaluation of Tunçbilek Sludge Slurry Wastes as Raw Materials in Brick and Cement Production" supported by the Turkish Coal Authority and carried out by the TÜBİTAK MAM Materials Institute.
In the light of the findings obtained within the scope of the project, it was stated that slurry wastes generated as a result of coal washing activities can be utilized as an alternative raw material in the brick and cement sector.
At the meeting, which aims to bring together organizations related to the brick and cement sector, brick manufacturing companies affiliated to TUKDER, cement manufacturing companies, university and private sector managers and personnel took part as participants.
At the event, which started with the opening speech of Mustafa ZİYPAK, Head of R&D of TKİ, Zeki OLGUN, R&D Manager of TKİ, gave information about the activities and R&D activities of the Turkish Coal Authority, and Dr. Mustafa KARA, the project coordinator, gave detailed information to the sector representatives about the project results with a comprehensive presentation. Questions from the sector representatives were answered and the activities to be carried out in order to turn the slurry waste into a commercial commodity were suggested.
