US DELEGATION VISITS TÜBİTAK GEBZE CAMPUS

Fleur Cowan, US Deputy Consul General in Istanbul, Benjamin Embury, Deputy Chief of Economic Affairs at the US Embassy in Ankara, and Michael Culver, Second Secretary at the US Embassy in Ankara, visited TÜBİTAK Gebze Campus to discuss possible cooperation opportunities with US public and private sector institutions/organizations operating in the field of science and technology.

The meeting, which was held at the TÜBİTAK MAM Conference Hall, was attended by Fleur Cowan, Deputy Consul General of the United States in Istanbul, and her delegation; Dr. İsmail Doğan, Vice President of TÜBİTAK; Prof. Dr. Burcu Özsoy, President of TÜBİTAK MAM; Hüseyin Özen, Chief Clerk from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey; Celal Mızrak, Vice President of Engineering Applications at TÜBİTAK BİLGEM; Ahmet Serdar Yücel, Sales and Marketing Manager at TÜBİTAK BİLGEM; K. Melike Ergün, Chief Scientific Programs Specialist at TÜBİTAK NIDB; and Yusuf Kılıç, Chief Specialist at TÜBİTAK MAM Strategy and Business Development Directorate.

At the meeting, Dr. İsmail Doğan, Vice President of TÜBİTAK, made a presentation titled "Co-Creation Based Cooperation for Stronger R&D and Innovation Ecosystems". In this presentation, he provided information on TÜBİTAK's place in the R&D and innovation ecosystem, the working areas of TÜBİTAK Centers and Institutes, and TÜBİTAK's global perspective on international scientific and technological cooperation.

During the presentation of Dr. İsmail Doğan, Vice President of TÜBİTAK, it was emphasized that R&D and innovation are the cornerstones of a strong ecosystem. TÜBİTAK's important role in this area was highlighted through its efforts to support and develop innovative projects. Dr. Doğan drew attention to the wide range of work areas of TÜBİTAK Centres and Institutes, noting that these units have the potential to create added value with their expertise in different disciplines. At the same time, a comprehensive perspective on how TÜBİTAK's international scientific and technological cooperation supports knowledge sharing and innovation acceleration on a global scale was presented. It was stated that this cooperation not only leads to scientific advancements but also strengthens international relations. Prof. Dr. İsmail Doğan concluded his presentation by underlining that co-creation-based collaboration will play a critical role in building stronger and more sustainable R&D and innovation ecosystems.

Yusuf Kılıç, Chief Expert from TÜBİTAK MAM Strategy and Business Development Directorate, made a presentation on TÜBİTAK MAM's infrastructures, activities, products, international projects carried out and potential areas of cooperation.

The presentation highlighted TÜBİTAK MAM's impressive infrastructure and extensive fields of activity. Mr. Kılıç provided the participants with a detailed overview of TÜBİTAK MAM's scientific and technological capabilities, laboratory infrastructure and research opportunities. He also provided information about TÜBİTAK MAM's product portfolio, emphasizing its role in the development of innovative products in the industry. Another important focus of his presentation was TÜBİTAK MAM's international projects and cooperation opportunities. He gave information about the potential areas of cooperation.

Lastly, Ahmet Serdar Yücel, Sales and Marketing Manager of TÜBİTAK BİLGEM, made a presentation on TÜBİTAK BİLGEM Institutes, their fields of study, digital technologies, robotic technologies, and cyber security technologies capabilities. During his presentation, Ahmet Serdar Yücel focused on the broad and diversified fields of study of TÜBİTAK BİLGEM Institutes. Yücel explained in detail the role of digital technologies in a rapidly changing world and TÜBİTAK BİLGEM's expertise in this field. He also emphasized the importance of robotic technologies in various fields of industry and life, and shared TÜBİTAK BİLGEM's capabilities in robotics. Another highlight of the presentation was the critical role of cyber security technologies today. Ahmet Serdar Yücel explained in detail TÜBİTAK BİLGEM's expertise in the field of cyber security and its efforts to create a secure digital world. At the end of the presentation, he concluded his presentation by sharing the vision of TÜBİTAK BİLGEM Institutes on sectoral collaborations with the participants.

After the cooperation meeting and presentations, the Food Innovation Center and the Medical Biotechnology Center of Excellence of the Turkish Food Innovation Platform (TÜGİP) were visited. The US delegation was given detailed information about the studies and products carried out in the laboratories by the personnel in charge.
