The premiere of the documentary titled "Antarctica, the Black Box of the Planet", which was shot within the scope of the Fourth National Antarctic Science Expedition carried out under the auspices of the Presidency, under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Technology and under the coordination of the TÜBİTAK MAM Polar Research Institute, was held at the Presidential Complex on September 23, 2020 with the presence and invitation of Mrs. Emine Erdoğan.
TÜBİTAK MAM Polar Research Institute Deputy Director and Expedition Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Burcu Özsoy presented Mrs. Emine Erdoğan with a basalt sample from the volcanic rocks brought from the Antarctic Continent, for which scientific permits have been obtained and studies have been completed, while the Director of the documentary Burcu Camcıoğlu presented the lens she used on the continent.
Launched in 2017 under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, the fourth National Antarctic Science Expedition was organized in 2020 with a team of 24 people, 2 of whom were foreign guests. In addition, 2 Turkish scientists were sent to other science bases as guest researchers. Within the scope of the expeditions, more than 30 scientific publications have been published in the literature so far, while Turkish-made documentaries offer an opportunity to inform the public and to better understand the effects of scientific studies carried out on the other side of the world on our country and the world.
The first screening will take place on TRT Documentary Channel on September 24, 2020, while the second screening will be broadcast on TRT 1 on Sunday, September 27 at 17:45.
