A technical visit was made to the Çekmece Nuclear Research and Training Center of the Turkish Atomic Energy Authority.

In the decision taken at the meeting of the Supreme Council of Science and Technology dated 16/02/2016 and numbered 29, TÜBİTAK was designated as one of the responsible institutions for the National Nuclear Technology Development Program 2016-2023 [2016/102].

In this context, a technical visit was made to Çekmece Nuclear Research and Training Center of the Turkish Atomic Energy Authority on October 25, 2016. TÜBİTAK Vice President Dr. Orkun Hasekioğlu, TÜBİTAK Presidential Advisor Prof. Dr. Şemsettin TÜRKÖZ, TÜBİTAK MAM Vice President Assoc. Dr. Murat Makaracı, TÜBİTAK Materials Institute Director Prof. Dr. Metin Usta, TÜBİTAK MAM Strategy Planning Unit, Technology Development and Management Unit and researchers from related institutes attended the visit.

After the opening speech of Çekmece Nuclear Research and Training Center Director V. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gürsel Karahan and the introduction of the institution, a technical visit was organized to the Reactor Unit (TR-2 Research Reactor) and Reactor Materials Unit Laboratories of the Department of Reactor Technologies in order to see the studies carried out at the Center on site and to obtain information. The trip was very productive and this was emphasized by all participants in the evaluation meeting held after the trip.
