TÜBİTAK MAM PARTICIPATED IN THE 1ST SMART CITIES AND MUNICIPALITIES CONGRESS AND EXHIBITION

TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) participated in the 1st Smart Cities and Municipalities Congress and Exhibition held at ATO Congresium on 15-16 January 2019 under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey.

At the congress, which was attended by guests from 41 countries and consisted of 3 main sessions, 12 panels and 6 seminars, the opening speeches were made by the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank, Minister of Environment and Urbanization Murat Kurum and Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin.

"It is critical that all smart solution applications to be implemented in our country, whether by municipalities, other institutions or the private sector, are compatible with each other," said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in his opening speech.

Visitors showed great interest in the TÜBİTAK MAM stand at the event, which contributed to the creation of an effective smart city ecosystem and the creation of an environment of cooperation and interaction between smart city technology manufacturers, solution providers and service providers. At the event, many products developed by TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) such as Fuel Cell Modules and Components, Lithium Ion Battery Samples, Trijen Project Fuel and Other Products, Noise Maps and Noise Barriers, Dissolved Oxygen Sensor, YEBA - Domestic Flue Gas Analyzer, Zero Waste Approach in Sewage Sludge Management - Cavitation System, Smart City Sustainability Model, Environmental Label for Accommodation Facilities, Photovoltaic Solar Panel and Terahertz Imaging System were exhibited.

28th Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey Mr. Binali Yıldırım, Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey Mr. Mehmet Fatih Kacır, 26th Term T.B.M.M. Deputy and former Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Turkey Mr. Taner Yıldız, President of TÜBİTAK Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal visited the TÜBİTAK MAM stand.

The "Maturity Assessment and Implementation Cooperation Protocol" was also signed between TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal and Fatma Şahin, President of the Union of Municipalities of Turkey.
