Representatives of the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology General Directorate of Productivity, Federation of Food and Beverage Industry Associations of Turkey, Association of Packaged Milk and Dairy Products, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Directorate of Environment and Protection, Ankara University, Gebze Technical University Technology Transfer Office, representatives of various institutions and organizations and ÜLKER Gıda, Ankara Halk Ekmek A.Ş., HERO Gıda organizations attended the training held at TÜBİTAK MAM Conference Hall.
TÜBİTAK MAM Environment and Cleaner Production Institute Chief Researcher Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet BABAN made an opening speech and informed the participants about the structure, studies and activities of the institute. In his speech, he emphasized that as the institute, they can carry out joint projects with the public and private sector and that they are ready for cooperation.
Following the opening speech, Dr. Şeyma KARAHAN, Lead Researcher at TÜBİTAK MAM Environment and Cleaner Production Institute, talked about the clean production activities carried out at the institute and the "Determination of Resource Efficiency Potential in Industry" project supported by the General Directorate of Productivity of the MoIT. She stated that within the scope of the project, they visited nearly 170 enterprises in various sectors including the food sector. He stated that the potential for savings in terms of energy, water and raw materials was estimated for the Turkish manufacturing industry. The importance of this study for the protection of environmental resources was also emphasized. Dr. Karahan stated that in the "Determination of Cleaner Production Possibilities and Applicability in Industry" project supported by the General Directorate of Environmental Management of the MoEU, clean production possibilities and applicability were determined for the yeast and iron and steel sectors. He also stated that draft legislation studies have also been completed.
TGDF Secretary General İlknur MENLİK presented information to raise awareness on innovation, agricultural productivity and sustainability in the food sector in Turkey.
In the following presentations, Prof. Dr. Nevzat ARTIK (AU), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Coşkun AYDINER (GTU), Murat ŞANLI (AHE), Gürol OKTAY (HERO Gıda), Ahmet Burak BAŞPINAR (ÜLKER Gıda) shared with the participants their sustainability and efficiency increasing projects on clean production in the food sector and the benefits realized after the projects.
