Within the scope of "Karacaören I & II Dam Lakes and Beyşehir Lake Basin Protection and Special Provision Determination Projects" initiated by the Ministry of Forestry & Water Affairs, General Directorate of Water Management and TÜBİTAK MAM Environment and Clean Production Institute on 07.12.2011, a common sense meeting was held at TÜBİTAK MAM on October 3-4 in order to evaluate the project results.
The meeting was attended by Aysel Er, Branch Manager and expert staff from the General Directorate of Water Management, Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs, Dr. Selma Ayaz, Deputy Director and Project Manager from TÜBİTAK MAM Environment Institute and expert researchers. In addition, subject matter experts from ITU Environmental Engineering Department (Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Ertürk), Geological Engineering Department (Prof. Dr. Remzi Karagüzel), Selçuk University Environmental Engineering Department (Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bilhegan Nas), Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Livestock and Antalya Fisheries Research Institute (Dr. Mehmet Ali T. Koçer and Dr. Hüseyin Sevgili). Within the scope of determining the Special Provisions, studies on groundwater and surface water quality, geological and hydrogeological assessments, agricultural and animal husbandry activities, fishing activities and evaluation of fish farms, environmental infrastructure facilities and solid waste management, urban and rural construction, GIS studies and model (basin - hydrodynamics - ecology) studies and special provision proposals were evaluated and discussed in both basins. During the project workshop, ideas were exchanged and decisions were taken for the finalization of the project and the meeting ended.
