Naval Forces Command Naval Academy Command organized a Maritime and Defense Festival under the name of "Naval Week" in Tuzla between 9-13 May 2016. TÜBİTAK MARMARA Research Ship participated in the event.
Within the scope of the event, which was held in Tuzla Naval Academy Command and was open to the press on an international scale and brought together all civilian/military mariners and stakeholders supporting the maritime sector, International Maritime Competitions, Visiting Marines Day, Defense and Maritime Seminar and Fair were organized, and the ships of the Naval Forces Command and Coast Guard Command were opened to the public.
During the event, special Aircraft-Helicopter and SAT-SAS commando demonstrations, Seamanship and Maritime competitions and various activities and shows were performed. Within the scope of the Naval Week, a Distinguished Observer Day was organized and local/foreign high-level guests such as senior Commanders, Local and Local Administrators, Ambassadors, Consuls, Attaches, University Rectors and Deans, Generals and Admirals, etc. were invited to the event, which was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Makaracı, Vice President, Ali Tavlı, Vice President, and Dr. Selma Ayaz, Director of the Environment and Clean Production Institute (ÇTÜE), representing TÜBİTAK MAM. Within the scope of the event, TÜBİTAK MARMARA Research Vessel was opened to visitors for promotional purposes in coordination with the Business Development Unit of the Vice Presidency of Business Development and Industrialization and ÇTÜE. In this context, TÜBİTAK MAM video images and special images prepared for the promotion of the ship were projected on the screens deployed on the ship.
Naval Academy Commander Rear Admiral Mesut Özel and Regiment Commander Uğur Yıldız visited TÜBİTAK MARMARA Research Ship and thanked TÜBİTAK MAM for its participation in the Naval Week event. In commemoration of the day, TÜBİTAK MAM Vice President Ali Tavlı and ÇTÜE Director Dr. Selma Ayaz were presented with a plaque of appreciation for TÜBİTAK MAM. During the Naval Week event, the work carried out by the research vessel and the Naval Research projects were explained to the Commanders, Cadets, Maritime Education Schools, TÜBİTAK BİLGEM Managers and other guests who visited TÜBİTAK MARMARA Research Ship.
