Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank at TÜBİTAK MAM Stand

Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank visited the TÜBİTAK MAM stand on the last day of IDEF 2021. Minister Varank closely examined the products on display and received information from the officials.

Reminding that the Terahertz (THz) Real-Time Passenger Imaging System Project is also a system developed by TÜBİTAK, Minister Varank said, "This is a system that detects people carrying foreign objects, especially at customs gates. This product was first developed by TÜBİTAK MAM. We then cooperated with ASELSAN for its mass production." Varank said, "As the Ministry of Industry and Technology, these are the works we aim for in our institutions such as TÜBİTAK. We are trying to develop products that require advanced technology, mass produce them in our companies in Turkey and commercialize them. The terahertz system is one of the best examples of these."

"We are now a country that designs, develops and produces technology"

Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, President of TÜBİTAK, stated that TÜBİTAK participated in IDEF'21 in a very strong manner with its SAGE, BİLGEM, MAM and UZAY institutes.

Drawing attention to the rapid development in our country's defence industry in recent years, Prof. Dr. Mandal said: "Our localization rate in the defence industry has increased from 20 percent to 80 percent. The self-confidence, self-sufficiency and responsibility we have gained here make us strong in other areas. Turkey is now a country that is self-sufficient in the field of defense and has become a leader both in its region and globally. We are now a country that designs, develops and produces technology, not a country that uses technology, not a country that produces technology by transferring technology."
