TÜBİTAK MAM in Tabriz, Iran

With the official invitation representing Turkey, a delegation from TUBITAK Marmara Research Center visited Tabriz International 4th High and New Technologies Fair in Iran and held various meetings in Tabriz.

On behalf of TUBITAK Marmara Research Center, Vice President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Makaracı and Strategy Planning Unit Manager Necdet Barlas attended the meetings in Tabriz.

The TÜBİTAK MAM delegation first visited the Consulate General in Tabriz and met with Consul General Çağlar Fahri Çakıralp, and after the visit, the delegation attended the opening of the 4th Tabriz International High and New Technologies Fair, which was organized by the East Azerbaijan Rab'ı Rashidi Technology and Science Special Zone in Tabriz on November 10-13, 2016 and which is reported to be visited by 2 million people every year, and visited the stands in the fair and made examinations.

Within the scope of the visit, the MAM delegation participated in various meetings at Tabriz Martyr Medeni University, University of Tabriz, Rab'i Rashidi Technology and Science Special Zone Presidency of East Azerbaijan and Tabriz Agricultural Biotechnology Center. After the meetings and visits with the officials, the MAM delegation met with the rectors of the universities, Presidential Advisor on Science and Technology, Head of AFAD, Deputy Governor of East Azerbaijan and Head of Rab'i Rashidi Technology and Science Special Zone. Ali JAHANGIRI and Mayor of Tabriz Sadegh NAJAFI.

During the meetings, the issues of mutual scientific and technological cooperation between the Tabriz Region of Iran and TÜBİTAK MAM parties were discussed, and as TÜBİTAK MAM competencies, Urumiyeh Lake water resources for Tabriz region and Tabriz city noise modeling, the use of warm mix asphalt and road marking paints, and the evaluation of waste batteries, It was decided to initiate feasibility studies for the establishment of seismological infrastructure, geothermal energy resource research and power plant establishment, plant biotechnology, genome sequencing, development of projects for the use of biotechnological drugs and resistant foodstuffs, and the establishment of TÜBİTAK model Science Centers.
