The inaugural workshop of the "Treatment and Disposal of Wastewater from Health Institutions Project", which was launched on October 10, 2015 with the contract signed between the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center, was held in Ankara on January 26, 2016.
Opening speeches were made by Ali Tavlı, Corporate Vice President of TÜBİTAK MAM, and Recep Akdeniz, Deputy Director General of the General Directorate of Environmental Management, and then Dr. Selda Murat Hocaoğlu, project coordinator from TÜBİTAK MAM Environment and Cleaner Production Institute, presented the activities to be carried out within the scope of the project and the prioritization and analysis studies.
The workshop continued with presentations by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doğan Yücel from the Department of Medical Biochemistry at Ankara Training and Research Hospital and Dr. Sönmez Dağlı from TÜBİTAK MAM Environment and Clean Production Institute, and ended with a group work with all participants. Within the scope of the group work, which allowed different stakeholder groups to exchange views, the positive and negative aspects of the current situation regarding the disposal of wastewater from health institutions were discussed and ranked in order of importance
Provincial Directorates of Environment and Urbanization, General Directorates of Water and Canal Administration, device representatives, Ministry of Health, General Staff, Public Hospitals Authority of Turkey, Public Health Institution of Turkey, Researcher Medical Technologies Manufacturers Association participated in the workshop.
