The world's largest Aviation, Space and Technology Festival "TEKNOFEST 2020" was held in Gaziantep between September 24-27, 2020.
TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) participated in the Aviation, Space and Technology Festival, organized by the Ministry of Industry and Technology and held with intense interest and excitement despite the pandemic, with the Biotechnology Innovation Competition.
Competitors from High Schools and Universities took part in the competition where competition was intense and 15-minute presentations were made by the competitors in the Project and Idea Category.
During the competition, the jury members examined and evaluated the prototype works of the presenting teams after the presentations made by the teams.
TÜBİTAK MAM Biotechnology Innovation Competition area was visited by Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank, Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu and TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal.
During the visit, Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank, Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu and President of TÜBİTAK Mr. Hasan Mandal met with the competitor teams. Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal received information about the projects of the competitor teams.
The certificates of achievement of the students who ranked first, second and third in the Project and Idea category competitors with projects and ideas in fields such as Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Biomedical and Food Engineering were given by TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, TÜBİTAK Board Member Prof. Dr. Metin Orhan, TÜBİTAK Vice President Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yozgatlıgil, TÜBİTAK MAM President Dr. Osman Okur, MAM Gene Engineering and Biotechnology Institute Director Prof. Dr. Şaban Tekin.
Plaques were presented to each team that made the best presentation in the Project and Idea categories.
The awards were presented to the winning teams in the Project and Idea Category by Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu, President of TÜBİTAK Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal and President of the Union of Municipalities of Turkey and Mayor of Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Fatma Şahin.
The second and third teams were awarded by Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, President of TÜBİTAK, Dr. Osman Okur, President of TÜBİTAK MAM, Fatma Şahin, President of the Union of Municipalities of Turkey and Mayor of Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality, and Selçuk Bayraktar, President of T3 Foundation.
TEKNOFEST hosted President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Saturday, September 26, 2020. Addressing young people, Erdoğan said, "Turkey needs successful young people, successful people who design, produce, develop and achieve concrete results in order to achieve its goals. Turkey needs you, your efforts, your energy, your vision."
Delivering an opening speech at the Aviation, Space and Technology Festival "TEKNOFEST 2020", Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank stated that they have shaped and implemented all policies of the Ministry of Industry and Technology with the vision of National Technology Move and said, "We are working to develop the critical technologies of the future and to produce competitive products in high technology fields, only in this way can we gain our economic and technological independence.
